Symposium on Intelligent Operations 2025 & International Conference Honoring Suresh Sethi
We are excited to announce the International Conference Honoring Suresh Sethi, a special academic gathering in celebration of Professor Suresh Sethi’s 80th birthday and his outstanding contributions to the fields of manufacturing and operations management, finance and economics, marketing, and optimization theory.
Professor Sethi has had an extraordinary academic career, authoring 11 books and publishing over 400 research papers. His influential work has shaped multiple disciplines, and his achievements have been recognized through numerous prestigious honors, including Fellowships in the Canadian Academy of Science, IEEE, INFORMS, SIAM, POMS, and AAAS. He has also received the IITB Distinguished Alumni Award, the Alumni Achievement Award from Carnegie Mellon University’s Tepper School of Business (2015), and served as President of POMS (2012).
Two conferences have previously been organized in his honor: one in Aix-en-Provence in 2005 and another at The University of Texas at Dallas in 2006, featuring Harry M. Markowitz, a 1990 Nobel Laureate in Economics, as the keynote speaker. Additionally, two books have been edited in his honor, and the Production and Operations Management Society (POMS) has introduced the biennial Suresh Sethi Best Interdisciplinary Paper Award that began this year.
We envision this event as a prestigious gathering of scholars and professionals to honor Professor Sethi’s impact on the field, featuring presentations from his former students and co-authors, keynote speeches by distinguished scholars, engaging discussions on cutting-edge topics in intelligent operations, and social gatherings to celebrate his legacy.
